82 imagesSiem Reap is a small city in northwestern Cambodia. It serves as the access point to the temples of Angkor and has as such transformed itself into a major tourist hub. While in 2000 most streets in Siem Reap were made of mud, in 2006 most streets were paved and modern buildings had replaced the simple buildings of the past. After seeing the temples of Angkor, it is easy to see why Siem Reap has become such a sought after destination. It is absolutely spectacular and touches the soul in an intimate way.

From the amazing views of the Li Jiang River to the Dragon Rice Terraces, this part of China is simply breathtaking! China has one of the world's oldest civilizations. It has archaeological evidence dating back over 5,000 years. China was one of the largest and most advanced civilizations for most of the last two millenia. On things for certain: there is nothing like the beauty of this spot...There is a reason the natural scenery of this part of China is pictured on it's currency!

From Luang Prabang to Vientiane, the people of Laos, the temples of Laos and the ambiance of Laos is magical. Anyone who visits Southeast Asia must not miss a trip to this country! Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic, is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia, bordered by Burma and People's Republic of China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south and Thailand to the west. Laos traces its history to the Kingdom of Lan Xang or Land of a Million Elephants, which existed from the 13th to the 18th century. After a period as a French protectorate, it gained independence in 1949.

And for the first time in my photographic pursuits, I am unable to completely accomplish this in images. This is why it is so magical. It is truly a world of dreams that speaks to you like no other place I have been. The images are powerful with intimate portraits and spectacular landscapes, but it is the feeling of serenity that intrigues the subconscious mind that invites us into this world. Burma, officially the Union of Myanmar, is the largest country by geographical area in mainland Southeast Asia or Indochina. The country is bordered by China on the northeast, Laos on the east, Thailand on the southeast, Bangladesh on the west, India on the northwest and the Bay of Bengal to the southwest with the Andaman Sea defining its southern periphery. The country's culture, heavily influenced by neighbours, is based on Theravada Buddhism intertwined with local elements. Burma's diverse population has played a major role in defining its politics, history and demographics in modern times, and the country continues to struggle to mend its ethnic tensions. The military has dominated government since General Ne Win led a coup in 1962 that toppled the civilian government of U Nu.
